Updating default band settings

Strum Machine uses a very simple “boom chuck” strum for all songs by default, except for jigs which use a down-up-down strum pattern.

Usually, different songs call for different instrumentation, which you can set up using the band settings menu. But you may also want to change the default band settings that Strum Machine uses. Here’s how you can do that.

Each time signature has its own default band settings. That means, for example, that if you want to change the default settings for songs in 6/8 time, you need to have a song in 6/8 time loaded.

First, open a song, open the Band Settings menu, and if it doesn’t say “Default Band” at the top, click on “Default Band” at the bottom of the menu to load the default band. (You may want to do this on a song you haven’t previously customized.)

Once the default band is loaded, click the three-dots menu in the top-right corner and click Edit default band.

Now you can make whatever changes you like. For example, you can click “Guitar”, then click the current strumming pattern to select a new one. You can click Play to preview your changes if you like.

Once you’re satisfied, click Save Changes to update the default band for all songs using that time signature. Any song where you haven’t previously customized the band or chosen a preset will use the new default band you have saved.
